Council Scope
The Council is registered to operate within the Wood and Paper industry. The registered scope of the Council includes the following sectors : Pulp and Paper; Sawmilling; Fibre & Particle board; Tissue & Allied products; Paper Distribution
Employer Registration
Every company that is engaged in activities falling within the registered scope of the council must register with the Council. Employers must submit a completed registration from containing information on the company's ownership, activities and employees. Once registered the company will recieve a registration certificate with a unique reference number as proof of registration.
Dispute Resolution Levy
All employers are required to deduct a minimum levy per month from each employee and pay a matching contribution. The employer must submit the total amount to the Council by the 7th of the following month. The levy is used to fund the dispute resolution service of the Council.
Exemptions
Any employer may apply to the Council to be exempted from paying the levies ( As to outline the exemption process)
The Enforcement function
The Council may appoint agents who are designated by the Minister of Employment and Labour to monitor compliance and enforce Council agreements. Section 58 of the LRA empowers agents to gain access to company premises and to inspect employment records.
