Council Governance

Council Structure

The Main Council is the highest decision making body. The Council may delegate its functions to the Executive Committee . The day to day operations of the Council is managed by the General Secretary supported by the Elected Office Bearers. The Chairperson and Deputy Chairperson are elected at the Annual General Meeting of the Council.


Parties to Council

The current parties to the Council are the Employers Association for the Pulp and Paper Industry (EAPPI) on the employer side and Chemical, Energy, Paper,Printing, Wood and Allied Workers Union (CEPPWAWU) on the trade union side . Any employer organisation or trade union who's registered scope falls within the scope of the Council may apply for Council membership. Trade union applicants must have at least 1000 members .


Constitution of the Council

The Council constitution was first registered in 2005 . The consitution is the main governing instrument for decision making in Council structures. All Council structures must have an equal number of of employer and trade union representatives. Decisions are generally based on consensus.

Reporting

The AGM approves the Executive Committee Report and Annual Audited Financial Statements which must be submitted to the Registrar of Labour Relations
